Functional Capacity Assessments

Brainhouse provides specialised Functional Capacity Assessments for participants with psychosocial, sensory or cognitive difficulties that are comprehensive, timely, individualised, and aligned with NDIS-recommended assessment frameworks.

Each assessment integrates clinical interview, functional observation, standardised screeners, and evidence-based tools to build a detailed and accurate picture of a participant’s daily functioning across physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory, and environmental domains. Assessments are tailored to the participant’s presentation, goals, and support context, ensuring findings are both clinically robust and practically meaningful.

Where indicated, FCA assessments include clear, recommendations for Supported Independent Living (SIL) and other housing or support models.

Brainhouse provides Sensory Profile Assessments for participants experiencing sensory processing difficulties, either as a standalone assessment or as part of a comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA).

A Sensory Profile Assessment explores how a person processes and responds to sensory information, such as sound, light, touch, movement, and body awareness and how these responses influence daily functioning, emotional regulation, behaviour, participation, and independence across different environments.

The assessment combines structured sensory screeners, functional observation, and participant-centred discussion to build a detailed picture of each individual’s sensory needs. Findings are used to develop practical, individualised strategies and recommendations that support improved self-regulation, engagement, and quality of life.
